Meet the team

André Philip Pettemerides graduated from The University of Sheffield in 1976. He has since gained enormous experience in the fields of restorative, aesthetic and implant dentistry. In particular he is recognised for his work on immediate loading of implants, aesthetic cases, the use of computer guided placement, Nobel Guide and the All-on-4 concept.

He has achieved the certificate, the advanced certificate and the diploma in implant dentistry with distinction from the Eastman Dental Institute at the University of London. He has continued his postgraduate education in France, Malta, Portugal, Austria, Switzerland and the USA.

Philip is an executive committee member of the British Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry, an affiliate member of The European Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry, a member of the association of dental implantologists and in addition to his clinical work Philip has taken a keen academic interest and has had several articles published in scientific journals including the British and European Journals of Orthodontics.

Philip currently runs implant courses at Edgar Buildings Dental & Implant Clinic and is a senior lecturer at the Portman Academy. He has lectured on dental implants at home and in Sweden and has lectured for Nobel Biocare including the World Conference 2007 in Las Vegas and as the lead presenter for The Nobel Biocare Procera Roadshow.

Credentials & Education: Liliana is a distinguished dental professional who graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, in 1985. She excelled academically, earning distinctions in all her final year subjects, and received numerous prestigious awards as top student in all aspects of dentistry including prosthodontics, periodontics, maxillofacial and oral surgery, including the Gold Medal from the Dental Association of South Africa for being the most outstanding graduate.

Specialization & Advanced Training: Liliana furthered her expertise by specializing in Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery, training at the world-renowned Baragwanath Hospital in Johannesburg. In 1991, she obtained a master’s degree in Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery and gained Fellowship in the same field through the College of Medicine of South Africa. Additionally, she fulfilled the General Dental Council's requirements to be registered as a Specialist in Oral Surgery.

Professional Experience & Skills: With a career spanning several decades, Liliana has amassed extensive experience in Implant Dentistry and Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery. She is proficient in complex bone grafting for dental implants, all aspects of the placement and restoration of dental implants, immediate loading of implants, All-on-4, 6 and 8 treatments, and handling of aesthetically complex cases. Utilizing the latest advancements in computer-guided placement, Liliana ensures precision and optimal outcomes for her patients. Her journey into implant surgery began in 1990, leveraging her robust background in Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery to master the intricacies of implantology.

Comprehensive Surgical Care: Liliana offers a wide range of oral surgical and implant care, incorporating the latest innovations in oral surgery, removal of wisdom teeth, coronectomies, exposure of impacted teeth, removal of pathological lesions e.g. cysts, all aspects of dental implantology, and bone augmentation procedures. Her expertise includes complex intra-oral grafting and sinus grafting, ensuring comprehensive care for patients requiring intricate surgical interventions.

Educational Contributions & Mentorship: A passionate educator, Liliana is actively involved in the dissemination of implant and oral surgery knowledge. She runs implant courses and mentorship programs at various practices in the Southwest and has lectured on dental implants internationally. Her contributions to dental literature are notable, with several published articles and a widely quoted thesis on Temporomandibular Joint Reconstruction.

Sally Davies qualified from Guys Hospital (University of London) in 1990.

Since qualification and prior to joining Edgar Buildings, Sally joined the Royal Army Dental Corps, where she served as a Captain for a three year short service commission, she then returned to general practice in Surrey for several years, before moving to Bath and joining Edgar Buildings Dental Care in 2000.

Sally has a particular interest in cosmetic dentistry and new advancements. She attends courses frequently to keep up to date with the latest techniques in this rapidly expanding field. She enjoys the challenge of building trust with phobic patients.

Sally’s other interest is children’s dentistry, where the focus is in prevention, advice and careful treatment, using up to date techniques. She also enjoys providing crown/bridgework, dentures , root canal treatment and places the restorative stage for implants.

Jay qualified from Birmingham University in 2005 and worked as a general dentist before embarking on further training.

In 2005 Jay gained her Membership in the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. She then went on to start her Orthodontic Specialist training in 2006 and was awarded her Masters in Philosophy and Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and gaining Specialist recognition in 2011.

Since then, Jay has spent time teaching Orthodontics at Bristol Dental Hospital and has worked in both dental practice & hospital environments.

Jay has continued to further her knowledge by attending courses in advanced Orthodontic procedures to provide treatments that are both patient care focused and at the forefront of modern orthodontics.

In particular, Jay’s interests lie in invisible Orthodontics including lingual systems (Incognito) and aligners (Invisalign) and also working with a combination of restorative and aesthetic adult orthodontic cases.

Jay is available for appointments at Edgar Buildings Dental Care.

James attended the University of Liverpool and achieved his Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 1998. In the twenty years since qualifying he has gained extensive experience in restorative and aesthetic dentistry working throughout this time in the general practice setting. James has a particular interest in root canal treatment and is currently undertaking a Masters in Endodontics at the University of Chester. He also has a keen interest in the restoration of implants and has been restoring those placed by Dr Philip Pettemerides for the past eight years.

Having also embarked on a course of study in implants in the last six months he also plans to add the placement of implants as a service to his patients in the coming years. With a strong appreciation of the evidence base, he uses contemporary materials and techniques to produce lifelike and functional restorations for his patients.

James is very much an outdoors person and in his spare time enjoys nothing more than being in the great outdoors with his partner and two children.

Frederico originates from Portugal. After graduating from Porto, he has held a post at the University as a clinical assistant, worked in private practice and at a private Hospital.

Frederico has completed his MSc in Endodontics, with Distinction, at the prestigious King’s College London.

Frederico exclusively practices endodontics and collaborates as a clinical tutor at the Delta Dental Academy in Bristol.

He is also the UK Key Opinion Leader, for the award-winning German microscope brand CJOPTIK and Eighteeth Medical. Frederico is a member of the British Endodontic Society (BES), the European Society of Endodontology (ESE), the British Academy of Microscope Dentistry (BAMD) and the Academy of Microscope Enhanced Dentistry (AMED).

Gurvinder qualified from Guy’s Hospital in 2001 and since then has gained wide ranging experience in dentistry both within the practice and hospital settings. He has held senior house office and staff grade positions in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery in the West Midlands. It was during this time that he successfully completed the Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgeons (MFDS) examination with the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh.

Prior to his move to Bath, he was a practice principal of a successful dental practice in London. Gurvinder gained an MSc in Conservative Dentistry from the Eastman Dental Hospital in London. This was an intense, year long full time programme, that required the treatment of patients with a variety of complex dental needs. Gurvinder is now the principal dentist at Edgar Buildings Dental & Implant Clinic.

Gurvinder regularly updates his knowledge and skills through proactive learning and has a special interest in prosthodontics.

Danielle graduated from Bristol Dental School in 2021 having gained a first-class honours degree in Biomedical Science in 2016. Danielle takes great pride in her ability to put nervous patients at ease and enjoys educating children and parents on good dental habits from an early age.

Whilst Danielle loves all aspects of dentistry, she has found a particular passion for smile makeovers and is a provider of Invisalign®, ClearSmile, Inman Aligners, composite bonding and whitening. She also enjoys keeping up to date with the latest techniques by regularly taking courses in these fields.

Outside of dentistry Danielle enjoys a multitude of outdoor pursuits with her husband Alex and puppy Moose.

Rippon qualified from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ in London in 2003. She had an interest in surgery and this led to her spending 9 years training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. She spent 5 years as a Specialty Doctor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in various hospitals in the South East including Royal London Hospital, where she was also a Honorary Clinical lecturer and involved in undergraduate dental training. In this time, she also obtained her Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. In 2012 at a London Conference, Rippon was awarded the Associate Fellow’s Prize by the British Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, for the best presentation of a clinical study, she had conducted in third molar surgery at the Royal London Hospital. She has been an examiner for the General Dental Council/Royal College of Surgeons London for 9 years, examining overseas dentists and continues to examine.

Through Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Rippon’s interest in jaw surgery, this led her path to specialising in Orthodontics. She undertook higher specialist training in Orthodontics at Birmingham Dental Hospital and Worcestershire Royal Hospital. As part of her training, she also completed a Masters in Research, looking at the self-esteem and quality of life in patients undergoing jaw surgery. She successfully completed training and was awarded a Membership in Orthodontics at the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh and is recognised as a Specialist in Orthodontics with the General Dental Council.

Rippon works in both NHS and Private practice in Gloucestershire and the Midlands. After qualifying, she continued to work as an Orthodontist at Birmingham Dental Hospital, where she dealt with an array of complex cases including surgical. She has a keen interest in aesthetic Orthodontics including Invisalign, treating mild to complex cases and experienced in Invisalign Teen. She loves keeping up to date with the constant changes and advancement in Orthodontics using an array of digital systems, designed to make life easier for patients and making that new smile easily accessible.

With her experience in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Rippon has completed training in Advanced Facial Aesthetics. Specialist Orthodontists are taught a higher level of training in facial proportions and facial balance and Rippon enjoys enhancing natural beauty and facial rejuvenation.

In her spare time, Rippon is kept busy with her young dog and enjoys exploring the Cotswolds with him, one of his favourite spots being Leckhampton Hill.
